Sales Assistant

Job Description

Our client is seeking a passionate and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join their dynamic retail team in London. You will play a crucial role in creating a positive and engaging shopping experience for every customer. This position involves direct interaction with the public, providing product knowledge, processing transactions, and maintaining an appealing store environment. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, results-oriented, and possess a genuine desire to excel in a retail sales setting

Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers in a friendly and approachable manner, actively listening to their needs and offering tailored assistance.
  • Develop a strong understanding of product offerings and effectively communicate features and benefits to customers.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system.   
  • Maintain a high standard of visual merchandising, ensuring shelves are well-stocked, displays are attractive, and the store is tidy and organized.
  • Meet and exceed individual and team sales targets through proactive customer engagement and effective sales techniques.
  • Handle customer inquiries, address concerns professionally, and escalate complex issues appropriately.
  • Assist with inventory management tasks, including receiving, unpacking, and organizing new stock.
  • Stay informed about current promotions, sales events, and company policies.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, supporting colleagues and working towards shared goals.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of proven retail sales experience. Candidates must demonstrate a foundational understanding of retail sales principles and customer service practices.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and connect with a diverse customer base.
  • A positive and proactive attitude with a strong work ethic and a genuine enthusiasm for retail.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in transactions and inventory management.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills are essential.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, to meet the needs of the business.
  • A professional and presentable appearance, representing the client’s brand positively.
